Как правильно выбрать одноразовые хомуты для обжима шлангов: гайд для инженеров и закупщиков
In industrial equipment, the HoReCa segment, and process lines, the tightness of connections determines the stability of the entire system. Disposable compression clamps are perhaps the most reliable way to secure a hose. Unlike reusable worm-drive clamps, they provide uniform radial pressure, do not damage the surface, and do not weaken due to constant vibrations and pressure changes.
However, choosing the wrong fastener can lead to line failure, leaks, and costly equipment downtime. To purchase disposable hose clamps correctly, consider three key criteria.
1. Design features and the Oetiker brand
Oetiker clamps are recognized as the global standard in this field. Engineers value them for their patented «ear» technology, which compensates for thermal expansion of materials. When selecting clamps, it’s important to distinguish between two main types:
Single-ear clamps. Ideal for medium- and high-stiffness rubber or polyurethane hoses. Models with an inner ring (no gaps) ensure a completely smooth fit around the entire perimeter, completely eliminating pinching or squeezing of thin-walled tubing.

Double-ear clamps. These offer an increased geometric crimping range. The two ears ensure symmetrical force distribution. They are the ideal choice for harsh environments and thick-walled reinforced hoses.

2. Material: W4 and W5
For commercial, food, and medical equipment, stainless steel is the standard. Regular galvanized steel corrodes quickly in humid environments.
W4 (AISI 304 steel). Non-magnetic stainless steel with high corrosion resistance. Suitable for aqueous environments, food service areas, coffee machines, and beverage dispensing systems.
W5 (AISI 316 steel). Acid-resistant steel with added molybdenum. Essential for aggressive environments, chemical production, and bottling lines where regular alkaline or acidic CIP cleaning is used.
3. Accurate size calculation and selection
The main mistake suppliers make is selecting a clamp based on the nominal outside diameter of the hose. To determine the correct size, you need to measure the outside diameter of the hose while it’s tightly seated on the fitting.
Select a part so that the resulting external dimension of the assembled unit is exactly in the middle of the crimping range (for example, if the unit diameter is 15.5 mm, a clamp with a working range of 14.5–16.6 mm will be suitable). Remember that high-quality installation requires a special tool—clamp crimping pliers—as using regular pliers will distort the joint geometry.
